Race Report: Run Run Rudolph 10K (2014)

Last year the Run Run Rudolph was my first ever 10K, and I've been looking forward to running it again.  Chris and I have been planning on running this one for a while, even training a bit on the course a few months ago, and we were both looking forward to it.

Race Report: MADD Dash 485 10K (2014)

"Run it Before You Drive It!"

The unique thing about this early November race is that it's held on a soon-to-be opened stretch of a new interstate loop around Charlotte.  It isn't the first MADD Dash, but it's the first I've heard of and it seemed like a great idea.  As far as I can tell, the NCDOT put on the race, with the support of some terrific sponsors.

It was hard not to be excited about this one, my first leg in the Tuna Run 200!  A 200-mile relay, and I'm about to run about 5 1/2 of those.  The weather was terrific:  sunny, slight breeze, and not too hot - yet.

200 miles.  12 runners.  2 drivers.  Volunteers.  Fun.

This was an entirely new kind of adventure for me and most everyone on our team.  The Tuna Run 200 is a 36-leg, 200.87-mile run through Eastern North Carolina.  We had 12 runners on this adventure, plus drivers and volunteers.

The race began Friday morning, continued through Friday night and into Saturday, and we finished Saturday afternoon at Atlantic Beach.

Race Report: Run for Green Half Marathon (2014)

The Run for Green Half Marathon is one I've looked forward to for a few months.  After the NC Half Marathon, I had hoped to run another in June, but this late September race is the first I could find on the calendar.

Race Report: Streetlight 5K (2014)

Two or three times a year, Concord Parks and Rec hosts a community 5K and fun run.  This one, the Streetlight 5K, is coupled with the Firefly Festival.  The weather was excellent, and my Sunday running buddy and I thought we'd tackle this one.

Race Report: Cooper River Bridge Run (2014)

The Cooper River Bridge Run is one of the most well-known races in the United States, and bills itself as "the best organized and best conducted race in the world."  I've heard about this run for quite some time, and became interested in running it when a friend of mine mentioned that he's been going down with a group of guys and their families for the past several years.

Race Report: Charlotte 10 Miler (2014)

Charlotte 10 Miler-  10 mile run through the greenways of South Charlotte off Johnston Road

Beautiful day for a ten mile race!  This was a makeup day for the original February 22nd date, which was literally washed out due to heavy flooding on the course greenways.  Start 2 Finish did an awesome job putting this on.  Twice.

Race Report: NC Half Marathon at Charlotte Motor Speedway (2014)

My first half marathon!

I've run a few 5Ks and 10Ks, and I figured it was time to take on the next challenge.  A few years ago I created a list of goals for myself, and running a half marathon was on the list.  After fits and starts of running over the past few years, this year felt like the one.
